Eid Funday 2025: Stirling Comes Together for Celebration & Charity

On Sunday 13 April 2025 Forth Valley Unity (FVU) welcomed the whole community from across Central Scotland to our Eid Funday at Stirling Rugby Club. What began as a simple idea—an affordable, relaxed space for families—grew into an afternoon of laughter, great food and new friendships.

Our goal was straightforward: create an event where everyone felt at home, regardless of age, background or faith. From concessionary tickets to step‑free access and family‑friendly facilities, inclusivity guided every decision.

Why This Day Mattered

Eid-al‑Fitr is a season of gratitude and generosity, yet it can be demanding for parents balancing work, school holidays and tight budgets. By bringing the celebration to one well‑organised venue, we removed the stress so families could focus on what matters most—being together. Judging by the smiles, especially from those experiencing a large outdoor Eid for the first time, the day delivered on its promise.

Two large outdoor bouncy castles, as well as two smaller indoor ones, were included in the entry fee.

A Warm Welcome at Stirling Rugby Club

From 1 pm the grounds buzzed with gentle nasheeds, the aroma of barbecue and the sight of children racing toward towering inflatables. Volunteers greeted guests, offered directions and helped push prams. Colourful stalls—ranging from oud and modest fashion to artisan desserts—ran alongside food vendors serving biryani, burgers, churros and more.

Activities for All Ages

  • Inflatables Galore: giant bouncy castles, a toddler‑sized castle, a climbing wall and a 100‑foot assault course.
  • Creative Corners: arts‑and‑crafts tables, Mehndi (henna) artists and face‑painting stations.
  • Stalls & Treats: clothing, headscarves, fragrant oud, sweet bakes and savoury street food.
  • Food & BBQ: sizzling grills, fresh juices, mocktails and dessert stands ensured no‑one left hungry.

£2,000+ Raised for Islamic Relief’s Palestine Appeal

Through ticket sales, donations and a lively bucket collection, the event raised over £2,000. Every penny has been forwarded to Islamic Relief for emergency food, clean water and medical supplies in Gaza.

The humanitarian need in Palestine remains critical. By pooling our contributions we help provide meals before sunset, medication that eases a child’s pain and clean water that serves an entire street—proof that generosity in Stirling can ripple far beyond Scotland.

Powered by Volunteers

The day ran smoothly thanks to 40+ passionate volunteers who arrived at dawn to set up and stayed late to tidy away. From first‑aiders to event marshals, each person gave their skill and heart, and we are deeply grateful.

What the Community Said

“I’ve lived in Stirling for 15 years and never felt the Eid spirit like this before. Please keep it going.”
“Affordable, organised and genuinely enjoyable—it made my kids proud of who they are.”

Where We Go from Here

Eid Funday showed what is possible when good‑natured people unite around a purposeful cause. We are already sketching ideas for more family fun days, youth workshops and a winter‑warmth drive.

What’s Next?

Planning is under way for a community celebration marking Eid-al‑Adha. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another day of fun and connection—watch this space for updates.

We’re always looking for fresh, community‑led ideas. If you have a suggestion or would like to volunteer, email us at events@fvu.org.uk. We would love to hear from you.
