About Forth Valley Unity

Forth Valley Unity (FVU) is more than just a name. We’re a community-focused initiative dedicated to uplifting Central Scotland’s Muslim community through cooperation, empathy, and real connections. Founded by volunteers from four local mosques - Alloa Mosque, Falkirk Islamic Centre, Falkirk Central Mosque, and Stirling Islamic Centre - we strive to cultivate bonds that transcend differences, ensuring everyone feels a profound sense of belonging.

Who We Are

At heart, FVU is a collective of caring individuals who noticed that too many people - particularly the youth - were yearning for opportunities to come together in meaningful ways but weren’t sure how to start. We realised something special could happen if we forged stronger links between mosques, local authorities, and the wider Muslim community.

Our volunteers come from different backgrounds and experiences, yet we’re united by a vision of a community that stands side by side: in worship, in friendship, and in service. We’re here to offer a platform where everyone feels encouraged to participate, contribute, and flourish.

Our Name

Although “Forth Valley Ummah” was an early contender, we chose “Unity” because it captures the spirit of what we do: bringing people together. We firmly believe in the concept of Ummah, yet it’s the active practice of unity that fuels our everyday efforts. Whether you’re a long-standing resident or newly arrived, the door to FVU is wide open to you.

What We Do

Community Engagement

We organise workshops, educational sessions, and interfaith discussions, creating safe spaces for everyone to learn, share, and connect.

Youth Empowerment

Through mentorship and youth-focused programmes, we nurture leadership qualities and inspire younger generations to carry the torch forward.

Charitable Projects

We strongly believe in turning compassion into action - raising funds for both local and global causes, with a particular emphasis on helping the vulnerable.

Intergenerational Bonds

We bring together elders and youth, ensuring traditions are passed on, experiences are shared, and everyone has a voice in shaping our future.

Looking Ahead

Although our journey is just beginning, we’re setting our sights on growth. We are in the process of becoming a fully registered charity, which will allow us to extend our reach and invest in more ambitious projects. By establishing new programmes and resources, we hope to encourage deeper engagement and collaboration across the region.

Our ultimate aspiration is to build a thriving network of communities where everyone feels confident and capable of making a real difference. Every event, initiative, or conversation is another step towards that vision.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple yet powerful: to nurture a sense of shared belonging among Muslims in Central Scotland and beyond. By weaving empathy, respect, and togetherness into every programme we run, we aim to uplift our community in both spiritual and practical ways, ensuring that no one stands alone.

Our Vision

We imagine a future where every individual, from the youngest child to the most senior member of our community, is supported and valued. A future where collective efforts transcend barriers and lead to genuine friendship, understanding, and hope. In this world, every good deed, however big or small, lights the way for others to follow.
